Few Important Incident in virtues of Surah Luqman
We mention some famous incidents related to Surah Luqman
1. Narrated that Bara bin Azib said:
The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) used to lead us for the Zuhr, and we would hear him reciting a Verse after the Verses from Surat Luqman (31) and Adh-Dhariyat (51).
(Sunan Ibn Majah: 830)
2. Narrated to Hazrat Ayesha:
Allah’s Messenger Holy Prophet (PBUH) came to my house while two girls were singing beside me the songs of Buath (a story about the war between the two tribes of the Ansar, the Khazraj and the Aus, before Islam). The Prophet (p.b.u.h) lay down and turned his face to the other side. Then Abu Bakr spoke to me harshly, saying, “Musical instruments of Satan near the Prophet (PBUH) ?” Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) turned his face towards him and said, “Leave them.” When Abu Bakr became inattentive, I signaled to those girls to go out, and they left. It was the day of `Id, and the Black people were playing with shields and spears; so I requested the Prophet (PBUH), or he asked me whether I would like to see the display. I replied in the affirmative. Then the Prophet (PBUH) made me stand behind him, and my cheek was touching his cheek, and he said, “Carry on! O Bani Arfida,” till I got tired. The Prophet (PBUH) asked me, “Are you satisfied (Is that sufficient for you)?” I replied in the affirmative, and he told me to leave.
(Sahih al-Bukhari: 949)
3. Hazrat Ali bin Abi Talib narrated that the Messenger of Allah(PBUH) said:
“When my Ummah does fifteen things, the afflictions will occur in it.” “What are they, O Messenger of Allah?” He said: “When Al-Maghnam (the spoils of war) are distributed (preferentially), trust is usurped, Zakah is fine, a man obeys his wife and disobeys his mother, he is kind to his friend and abandons his father, voices are raised in the Masajid, the leader of the people is the most despicable among them, the most honored man is the one whose evil the people are afraid of, intoxicants are drunk, silk is worn (by males), there is a fascination for singing slave-girls and music, and the end of this Ummah curses its beginning. When that occurs, anticipate a red wind, collapsing of the Earth, and transformation.
(Jamia at-Tirmizi: 2210)
4. Narrated Anas bin Malik:
The Prophet (PBUH) said, “At every womb, Allah appoints an angel who says, ‘O Allah! A drop of semen, O Allah! A clot. O Allah! A little lump of flesh.” Then if Allah wishes (to complete) its creation, the angel asks, (O Allah!) Will it be a male or female, a wretched or a blessed, and how much will his provision be? And what will his age be?’ So all that is written while the child is still in the mother’s womb.
(Sahih al-Bukhari: 318)
Conclusion
Hazrat Luqman is the great-grandfather of Prophet Abraham, who lived 500 years; he was a carpenter, tailor, shepherd, and judge. Allah asked him to choose between prophecy and wisdom, but he chose wisdom. Luqman was so wise and respected that he is referred to in the Quran as “the man to whom Allah endowed knowledge. In this Surah, Allah explained how Allah’s intention through creation was to better humanity, and his signs are theoretically everywhere, from rain to vegetation. This emphasis again reminds people of their subservience to Allah while also driving home the idea that man is meant to do good on Earth. Man’s purpose is to serve Allah, while the Earth has been created to facilitate man’s needs.
