Few Important Incident in virtues of Surah Al-Takatur

We mention some famous incidents related to Surah Al-Takatur

1- Mutarrif reported on the authority of his Father:

I came to Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) as he was reciting:” Abundance diverts you.” He said: The son of Adam claims: My wealth, my wealth. And he (the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad) said: O son of Adam. is there anything as your belonging except that which you consumed, which you utilized, or which you wore and then it was worn out, or you gave as charity sent it forward?

(Sahih Muslim: 2958)

2-Hazrat Abu Huraira reported that Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) went out (of his house) one Day or one night, and there he found Abu Bakr and Umar also. He said:

What has brought you out of your houses at this hour? They said: Allah’s Messenger, it is hunger. He said: By Him in Whose Hand is my life, what has brought you out has brought me out too; get up. They got up along with him. and (all of them) came to the house of an Ansari, but he was not at home. When his wife saw him, she said: Most welcome, and Allah’s Messenger (may peace be Upon him) said to her: Where is so and so? She said: He has gone to get some fresh water for us. When the Ansari came and saw Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) and his two Companions, he said: Praise be to Allah, no one has more honorable guests today than I (have). He then brought them a bunch of ripe dates, dry dates, and fresh dates and said: Eat some of them. He then took hold of his long knife (for slaughtering a goat or a sheep). Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) said to him: Beware of killing a milch animal. He slaughtered a sheep for them, and after they had eaten of it and the bunch and drank. When they had taken their fill and had been fully satisfied with the drink, Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) said to Abu Bakr and Umar: By Him in Whose Hand is my life, you will certainly be questioned about this bounty on the Day of judgment. Hunger brought you out of your house; then you did not return until this bounty came to you.

(Sahih Muslim: 5055)

3. Narrated Ma’qil ibn Yasar :
A man came to the Prophet (PBUH) and said: I have found a woman of rank and beauty, but she does not give birth to children. Should I marry her? He said: No. He came again to him, but he prohibited him. He came to him the third time, and he (the Prophet) said: Marry women who are loving and very prolific, for I shall outnumber the peoples by you.

(Sunan Abi Dawud: 2050)

4. Narrated to Hazrat Abu Huraira:

The Prophet said, The example of a miser and an almsgiver is like the example of two persons wearing iron cloaks. Allah’s Apostle also said, The example of an almsgiver and a miser is like the example of two persons who have two iron cloaks on them from their breasts to their collar bones. When the almsgiver wants to give in charity, the cloak becomes capacious till it covers his whole body to such an extent that it hides his fingertips and covers his footprints (obliterates his tracks). (1) And when the miser wants to spend, it (the iron cloak) sticks and every ring gets stuck to its place, and he tries to widen it, but it does not become wide.

(Sahih Bukhari: 1444)

Conclusion

Men spend their time seeking the things of this world. The judgment day shall reveal their folly. In consequence, they shall see hell-fire. After Bismillah, this sura deals with factions and schism among people. Agreements between individuals and groups accompany us “to the visit of the graves.” Sura warns the reader three times that you will “know” that those who sow dissatisfaction are going to hell.
