Few Important Incident in virtues of Al-Tawbah

We mention some famous incidents related to Al-Tawbah

1.Thawban narrated that:

The Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) said, “The best wealth is a tongue that remembers Allah Almighty, a grateful heart, and a believing wife to help one in his faith.

(Sunan al-Tirmidhi: 3094)

2.Hazrat Ibn Abbas Narrated that:

I said to Usman ibn Affan, may Allah be pleased with him, “What is your reasoning with Surat al-Anfaal, which has less than a hundred verses, and Surat Baraah (al-Tawbah), which has more than a hundred verses, yet you put them together without writing ‘In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, between them and you placed them with the seven long chapters. Why did you do that?” Usman said, “A long time might pass with the Messenger of Allah Holly Prophet, peace, and blessings be upon him, without anything being revealed to him, and then sometimes a chapter with numerous verses might be revealed. So when something was revealed, he would call for someone who could write and tell them to put these verses in the chapter that mentions this. When a verse was revealed, he would tell them to put this verse in the chapter which mentions this and that. Al-Anfal was among the first to be announced in Madina, and Baraah was among the last of those revealed of the Quran, and their discussions resemble each other, so we thought that they were part of each other. Then, the Prophet passed away, and it was not clear to us if they were part of each other. For this reason, we put them together without writing ‘In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, and we included them with the seven long chapters.

(Sunan al-Tirmidhi :3086)

3.Allah Almighty will say on the Day of Resurrection:

O son of Adam, I was sick, but you did not visit Me. He will say: My Lord, how can I see You when You are the Lord of the worlds? Allah will say: Did you not know that My servant was sick and you did not visit him and had you called him you would have found Me with him? O son of Adam, I asked you for food, but you did not feed Me. He will say: My Lord, how can I provide You when You are the Lord of the worlds? Allah will say: Did you not know that My servant asked you for food, but you did not feed him and had you fed him you would have found Me with him? O son of Adam, I asked you for a drink, but you did not provide for Me. He will say: My Lord, how can I give You drink when You are the Lord of the worlds? Allah will say: My servant asked you for a drink, but you did not provide for him, and had you given it to him, you would have found Me with him.

(Sahih Muslim: 2569)

Conclusion

Surah Tawbah revealed at a time when after the conquest of Makkah in 8(AH) and the battle of Hunain, Islam had become almost the sole religion of the whole of Arab. Hardly one year had passed after the Battle of Hunein when the central portion of Arabia came within the banner of Islam. The tribes that were still out of Islam came under its flag soon after the battle/campaign of Tabuk. Tabuk was such a bold indication of this newly born Islamic state that it has its resonance effects on all the regions near and far. Tabuk expedition was against the Christians living on the borders of the Roman/Byzantine Empire who were doing provoking activities, executed the Muslim delegations and even the special messenger of Prophet Muhammad, and also created troubles for the trade caravans.
