1. Narrated to Hazrat Ali bin Abi Talib:

One night Allah’s Messenger Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) came to Fatima and me, the daughter of the Prophet (PBUH), and asked, “Won’t you pray (at night)?” I said, O Allah’s Messenger (PBUH)! Our souls are in the hands of Allah, and if He wants us to get up, He will make us get up.” When I said that, he left us without saying anything, and I heard that he was hitting his thigh and saying, “But man is more quarrelsome than anything.

2. Narrated to Hazrat Abdullah bin Amar bin Al-Aas:

Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) told me, “The most beloved prayer to Allah is that of David, and the most beloved fasts to Allah are those of David. He used to sleep for half of the night and then pray for one-third of the night and again sleep for its sixth part and used to fast on alternate days.

(Sahih al-Bukhari: 1131)

3. Narrated to Hazrat Abu Huraira:

Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) said, “Allah does not listen to a prophet as He listens to a prophet who recites the Qur’an in a pleasant tone.” The companion of the sub-narrator (Abu Salama) said, “It means reciting it aloud.”

4. Narrated to Hazrat Ayesha (the mother of the faithful believers):

Al-Harith bin Hisham asked Allah’s Messenger (PBUH), “O Allah’s Messenger (PBUH)! How is the Divine Inspiration revealed to you?” Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) replied, “Sometimes it is (revealed) like the ringing of a bell, this form of Inspiration is the hardest of all, and then this state passes off after I have grasped what is inspired. Sometimes the Angel comes in the form of a man and talks to me, and I grasp whatever he says.” ‘Aisha added: Verily, I saw the Prophet (PBUH) being inspired on a very cold day and noticed the sweat dripping from his forehead (as the Inspiration was over).

Conclusion

Muhammad and the Muslims are bidden to pray during the night. The Quran is to be pronounced with a distinct sonorous tone. Muhammad encouraged to bear the contumelies of the infidels patiently. Allah will visit the infidels with dire calamities. The punishment of Pharaoh a warning to the people of Makkah.
